Westword's Review of Love Letters

It's official! We had our first review in the Westword by the fabulous Jon Solomon and we're so grateful for his thumb's up on our first EP, Love Letters.

Check the link below, but here's what Jon had to say last week:

"Headed up by singer Heather Larrabee and Flobots producer Kyle Jones, the Love Royale whips up some of the finest electro-soul in these parts. On Love Letters, the first of three long-form EPs, the group lays down a number of tracks that provide an ideal soundtrack for getting to, er, know somebody. Throw on the sweaty, grinding groove of "Give It to Me," which kind of feels like a distant cousin of Grace Jones's "Private Life," or the unhurried neo-soul of "Do the Dance," or "Sunday." All are saucy enough to get things heated up. But Love Letters isn't just about getting sexed up; the band turns up the energetic funk on "Come Over" and rocks out a bit on "Sundress." Any way you look at it, Love Letters is a thoroughly strong effort, and the captivating Larrabee shows she's quite capable of simultaneously being seductive and belting it out." - Jon Solmon, 4/12/2011.

Whole Planet Party: Grooving For Change!

On March 25th, we were honored to be one of 12 musical groups asked to play the Whole Planet Party benefit hosted by Whole Foods Market, Bar Standard, HOT 107.1 FM, Jammin 105.1 FM, and Westword.

It was amazing to see more than 525 people come out and enjoy music from some of Denver's best bands and DJs performing on three stages non-stop from 7 PM - 1 AM.

Over $3300 was raised in ticket sales that night. 100% of the proceeds from these sales were donated to the Whole Planet Foundation to fund micro-loans to women and families in 29 developing nations to help them lift themselves out of poverty through small business ownership.

What a wonderful world we live in where the actions of a handful of people on a Friday night in Denver could create prosperity, abundance, and most importantly, HOPE for people around the world.

Nights like this are humble reminders that we are ultimately servants channeling whatever it is we can through us in an effort to reach others. Thank you for the incredible gift you give us in receiving this.

Of course none of this happens in a vacuum. We have to shoutout people like Rupp's Drums, Dave Avery (Sound Engineer), Bar Standard, Westword, and SoundTown for their generosity in supporting things from the business side. It takes a village indeed. Good people abound.

For beautiful pictures of the night, please check out great shots taking by Ash Marie Photography here and enjoy gorgeous shots from Rob Clement from RC Visual Arts here.
